Battleborn

Battleborn may be free-to-play, but it still has a battle pass and leveling system. The recently released game has a map-based structure but with a third-person camera.

We asked Gearbox’s Director of Franchise Development, Steve Gibson, how long it will take the team to create Battleborn, and whether there will be an paid mode of the game. He explained, “We don’t want it to be free-to-play. Battleborn’s different approach to story missions and our primary goal is to do it as well as we possibly can.”

“If there’s a price for what we want to do, we’ll be considering that at the same time. If there’s a price for what we want to do, we’ll take it. If we just look at what the price is, we’ll take that as our lowest point.”

Battleborn will include a season pass that can be purchased separately, along with the Battle Pass which includes three packs of cosmetic DLC. There will also be a variety of multiplayer modes and maps in the game. Will you be picking up Battleborn and what will be coming out after launch?

“I think the multiplayer modes and maps, the modes, and the map modes,” Artem Cagal told us. “We’ve really got to go to the extreme to take the time to bring the game online and include the next game and everything we’re adding to the game to build up that.”

According to art and video, there are also some additions that haven’t been announced just yet.

“There’s also some new modes that we haven’t talked about yet,” he said. “So, we have our new free-to-play mode called Rumble, which we’re really keen to see and see whether we can do it and it’s one of the things we’re working on at Obsidian right now. We want to bring a new level of fun to our shooter fans and make sure we put that into the game.”

The in-game store is getting an upgrade. “The ‘cons’ you see on the in-game store is going to change this feature to support more weapons and loot,” said Brian Minsdale. “They’ll include more items, which we’re really excited to work on for the game.”

The pre-order options have also been tweaked. They’re currently in the process of being removed and can be cancelled again, but is at the same time subject to the approval process from Microsoft. If you’re an Xbox Live Gold subscriber, you’ll receive a free one-month trial, if you’re one of those folks who bought an Xbox One S (opens in new tab) in November. If you’re on a Premium subscription, you’ll receive a one-month free trial as well as a free one-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. If you’ve never used a Premium service before, the subscription will automatically renew at a later date.

Since launching on November 10, Microsoft has launched an app, Play Store, the Store, and even the ability to download games to your phone, and a fresh set of developer testimonials. However, the paid-for Play Store hasn’t quite reached the level of a retail store, so it has to be contended with.

So what exactly does Play Store stand for, and where does it sit? It combines Xbox’s digital storefront, a large selection of PC games, and a chance to preview titles before they’re available on store shelves.

Unlike the Switch, Microsoft has embraced digital storefronts as a platform to appeal to a wider audience. Much like the NES and SNES, the Xbox Play Store is only available to developers.

You can download Xbox Play Store games on Windows PCs, Android phones, and tablets, and play them on your phone or tablet with friends. However, you have to use the Xbox app to buy, download, and install games on it, and then play them on your phone. There’s a free trial version available to download and play for up to 30 days.

How much does it cost to install Windows 10? That’s a little like the Switch, although there are plenty of games available for that bit of extra dough. You can buy games for half the price, too, though, so this isn’t the cheapest Play Store on the market.

You’ll have to pay the premium for your games, too, and there are quite a few games that are exclusive to Microsoft’s hardware.
