Atari Vault Inc., a division of its R&D division, released its first game at this week's Gen Con: Imperium Command. Imperium Command lets players control four teams of four (two private factions) fighting over a base in the void of space. As one of the founding members of the J.P.H.E.C.2 army, players are able to pilot their own customized faction.

The single-player game will feature four different campaigns: the Gallic Mission, the Dominion Campaign, the Reclamation Base, and the Mongol Conquest. Atari Vault is working on three different modes for the game: a survival mode and the Queen's CTF. While each mode will have eight different objectives, the game will give players the option of selecting four different victory conditions that range from only capturing the base to controlling all of the enemy's base bases.

First Look Preview

Electronic Arts will be publishing Frontlines: Fuel of War in Europe. We recently had the opportunity to get a look at an early version of the game in action. The main game will feature 3D environments that are similar to that of the Panzer General series, and there will be six campaigns that focus on six different armies. Frontlines will feature a total of 32 units onscreen at once, all of which can be garrisoned with different structures or units and constructed in more than 20 different ways. EA will also be producing several versions of the game that will have different parts of the game. First, the company will be using Ubi Soft's AC3 engine, which is a tweaked version of the development engine used for Frontlines. Players will have to explore and build their own Frontlines cities using what is essentially a demo that EA used in a meeting with the French publisher for information on the game. The game is in development at Australia-based Pacific Coast Highway Games.

In Frontlines, players will be able to explore an "open" urban environment that contains towns, cities, and other areas in the game. Players will be able to recruit new characters to their cause, and they will also be able to send their troops to build out their own cities in the game. However, unlike Frontlines, Frontlines will have no guild-based combat, instead, players will be able to find quests for their characters on the map and use that character's power to help them in their cause. Each individual character in the game will have several different attributes, including innate skills and professions, which will improve with experience earned, experience gained, and attributes. In addition, characters will have different skills and skills, such as the ability to attack multiple enemies at once, to fight faster, or to hit multiple enemies at once.

According to MCD, the game will feature a much more complex storyline than Frontlines, because it will have an advanced AI system that will detect enemies' movements and will determine their movement and behavior in the game. One example given in the demonstration was that a German soldier was arrested in a tank on a mission to rescue the German tank driver who was getting shot by an enemy entrenched in a German antiair gun. According to MCD, one of the main factors in Frontlines' plot is its ability to keep the player on their toes and stay true to the role of a soldier. The player will find that the soldiers in Frontline will have different abilities, and the game will attempt to mimic the role of a traditional military shooter because the developers want them to have the same abilities. In addition, Frontlines will have unique multiplayer maps where the player will play as an Axis soldier who's being held in an underground Nazi base and must cooperate with other Axis soldiers to fight off Axis soldiers.

Interestingly, Frontlines will also feature a 3D battle system. In MCD's previous games, Frontlines had scripted battles where the player would play as a member of the Axis forces. In this game, the player would play as the Axis team's support officer, where he would be tasked with completing the tasks assigned by the Allied team. This was accomplished by approaching and issuing commands to the Allied team, and in Frontlines, the player will actively direct the Allied forces in an effort to capture and hold the bases of enemy leaders. For instance, during a firefight, the player would have to scout the perimeter of the enemy headquarters to ensure that the attacking team can successfully defeat the defense in order to capture and hold the base of the enemy's headquarters.

However, if the player manages to successfully get their hands on a massive heavy artillery weapon, they will be able to take advantage of his own arsenal of weapons and then fire back on the enemy headquarters. Frontlines will also feature some fairly unique gameplay mechanics. For instance, the player will be able to fly a giant laser weapon at any point in time that can be fired at will, provided that the enemy isn't coming within the vicinity of him.
