Assault Squad 2: Men of War Origins

Assault Squad 2: Men of War Origins takes place 30 years after the events of the first game. It was built as an homage to historical facts and history, and it got a spot in our heart. From the Chinese Army's Republic of China to the Maasai Khan's secret land, the story picks up from where the game left off. As Commander Matthias "Callen" Georges Méndez, you must investigate the Queen's loyalty and protect a British capital that is on the brink of war.

As in the first game, there's more than a few stealthy attacks. Stealth is limited by the technological constraints of your team. The Russian ships and tanks lack a mounted machine gun, but you can change the direction of a ship by pressing up or down on the analog stick. Movement is slow and can be difficult to master, but you'll have more than enough tools at your disposal to make it through. Tactical reconnaissance is key to surviving enemy attacks, and if you find yourself stuck in a cave, a quick-thinking technician will help you bypass these obstacles. It also means that the Russian operatives are given different ways to interact with the environment. For example, if you've picked up a recon, then you can use it to locate enemy spy units and find the items that they need. Or if you've spotted the enemy, then a hacker can use it to spy an enemy's base. In addition to spotting enemy spies, the mercenaries have a number of special skills to help them succeed. For example, in addition to scouting the entire map, you can identify when a sensor is detected by a hostile or an aircraft carrier.

The camera has a variety of options, and it allows you to adjust the field of view.

The second major feature of the game is the interrogation mode. When a guard in the game sneaks into the computer's headquarters and hears your calls, you'll hear a loud screech that can't be muted. Once the alarm goes off, you'll have to wait for the timer to start. The same is true of your opponent's cameras, because they don't want you to have to worry about seeing them for too long. By making the camera view used, you can scrutinize the guards' cameras to see what's happening in the room, and you can watch the conversation happen as it happens. This allows you to see at the right time what the situation was like before you arrived.

The graphics engine that is in the game is used to create the kind of detailed world that you'd expect from a big-budget, Hollywood-style movie. You can check out individual pieces of furniture in the game, such as a high-rise sofa, a hoodie, and some artwork, and you can see the hundreds of people milling about in the game. The game is due out for the Xbox 360 in the fall of 2007.
